Rob Keller You might remove the bottom draw & see if any parts are down there its a long shot but...

they should not give you a problem I lost my key & had to drill mine out & got a replacement that same day {lucky for me it was the Mac tools day} later I found my spare key with out the lock it is a ROYAL PITA because the drawers always want to lock .

I'm not for sure but I believe most of the locks are the same on the inside{of the tool box} as long as its right series.

zimaad The entire lock is missing, but the rod that actuates the drawer assemblies is there. I think that should come out rather easily though. I'll look into the MAC dealer/jobber though and see what I can find. Will they work with local/non-contract people?

Thanks again - Drew

oldred If the complete assembly is missing you can buy a new one from a MAC dealer but there is part of it left in there it may be a bit difficult to remove. I have seen those things drilled out and if done right nothing gets damaged but that depends on how careful they were. Most of those locks are chrome plated brass and drill fairly easy.

Rob Keller If the key is just missing you can take the numbers off the face of the lock & a mac tool jobber can get you replacement keys ...same with the lock ordering by box model number.

& / or possibly you local locksmith.

Might be able to do it Via the internet too

MAC tool box lock question

Hey guys,

I just picked up a used old MAC toolbox for almost nothing. Only problem with it is that the cabinet lock is busted (actually missing) so all of the cabinet drawers don't open. It's the type that has a rod that goes to the back of the box and lifts another bar to open the drawers. Does anyone know where I can a new lock or how I can get parts to repair it?

Thanks much - Drew
