Throw out everything you know about tuning Holleys! Buy a book on Demons or follow the instructions implicitly. Demons like a lot of initial timing and they flow much more than the size indicates, in other words a 650 flows alot more than 650. When you get it dialed in you will be very happy. People run into problems when they apply their Holley tuning tricks to a Demon. The minute you start thinking Holley while working on your Demon, you are done. Holleys are great carbs but you will love your Demon.

My Speed Demon is the dog´s bollocks, fantastic, I love it but then I came from a computer Q Jet.
The only trouble I´ve had was a blown power valve but once that was sorted it behaved perfect.
Take time to set it up and don´t get too far away from base settings, you can download your carb manual here.
Important I found was to set all four butterflies properly showing the correct amount of transfer slot.

I had issues with garbage in the bowls (metal machining chips).
but after that it ran ok .
Dawg.. I have addressed this before with you in another thread . The problems with the chips was in the past as it was a couple of years ago. We have openly admitted on many forums including this one that there was a problem and we addressed it with the result being that we very rarely see a claim for it now. Some of these measures included changing the way that parts were being carried and stored throughout the building as we found they were being contaminated in this manner, moving the gaskets off of the assembly benches and into a dispenser so they wouldn't pick up shavings from the bench, installing vacuum systems under assembly tables and the addition of a time locked sonic wash for the metering blocks.

Biggest thing is to make sure you review the manual prior to installing it and follow the instuctions found inside it. If you did not get a manual with it they can be downloaded from our website. Also make sure you have the proper amount of base timing in the motor as well before making any adjustments. If you have any questions or issues feel free to pm me.

They must have some issues. Summit quit carrying them awhile back.
Actually that would be incorrect because Barry closed Summits account due to the fact that their returns were 10 times higher than that of our other 400+ dealers including other large retailers.

Maybe Summit take stuff back too readily knowing the manufacturer will foot the bill.
Good for the customer.............if he REALLY has an issue with the product.
I reckon too many folks give up too soon, they all expect stuff to bolt on and work right out of the box.

Exactly and with the excessive amount of returns from them Barry would have had to raise the pricing to everyone else to cover it had it continued which he did not want to do. We took several of the returned carburetors and bolted them directly onto our in-house cars and they worked fine and had nothing wrong with them but yes sometimes the end user gives up a little quick or didn't realize they have to tune and in a lot of cases we see on the phone lines it can be something as simple as not having enough base timing in the motor while other cases it is even not carbureted related.

Not to hijack this thread but please elaborate. How do know what is the "proper base timing"? Also the comment "BG carbs like allot of timing" is posted often. I have a 350 in a 65 Corvette with a Speed Demon 750VS.

Thanks
Tom
