Yep a sure sign of spring when the Winternationals are run. Heard Anton took a bad ride in a crash.

Walked away??. Yes. I can tell you from my crash at the track when I was a kid he is one hurting unit today. And I was going alot slower then. I have always worn my belts/harness tight and I was bruised badly everywhere the belts ran. I gimped around for two weeks after when I finally got back into a car.

Jerry Clayton pointed out something of interest. By design the frame is supposed to shear off behind the cage and didn't.That NHRA/Goodyear might be covering up something.NHRA won't give back the frame either.

I know with me I remember only the first two times over(out of they tell me seven) and then it was lights out. They found me on my side still strapped into only the cage in a field.

One thing history will show is how much John Force has done with safety. The advances he and his team has made has been outstanding.

Yup! He look pretty dazed and confused but He walked off. Hopefully the rest of the guy's change to the canopy's also. That couldve been a bad deal.

John Medlen was the brains behind the beginning of that safety program. He came up with some great idea's with the cage to help with head injuries. I'm thinking he was going 270 or so when it blew so I'm sure he's one sore puppy.

Make that 304 MPH! Holy cow!

MJR photo's of the crash:

NHRA driver Antron Brown walks away from high speed crash on Mark J. Rebilas Blog

Really I don't like posting stuff like these because it always ends in the gore and expense of who is involved.

My logic in doing this one is so you guys get a sense of how bad it was if you weren't watching on TV.

I'm self taught seat of the pants old school driver.Even through our driver had spent tons of hrs in the Jr's and was running door slammers, when it came to the transition to RED's he attended Frank Hawley's Drag Race school. I am very sure he is better for it too. It exposed him to running 8 second RED's.

After one of the classes(and I had heard this too as well) I got into a conversion with one of the instructors about top fuel cars. I wanted to know if the current cars there was more driving going on. I mean back in the day it was point and stab. And no real peddling going on.Either W.O.T. or nothing. He told me what I thought it was like. That the cars today are more stable, your picking your marks earlier to pull the chute so your driving alot farther ahead of yourself, but for the most part it is still point and stab driving. And the tunnel vision is tons worst.

It is the primary reason why we are so strict about safety with our driver. And when you see me post about it on here you see why I am so serious about it too. Hell,I'm walking proof it works.

They done blowed up! I really think that goodyear is trying to design the tire's to do that in the fuel cars.

In the Eric medlen crash.. when his tires came apart it put the car in a severe tire shake that he coulndt survive it.
