Nice Vacation
Hi Folks!
I'm back after 3+ weeks of camping. Went from Virginia to Tucson to Yellowstone and then back home.
Tucson was nice and hot, the thermometer in the camper-trailer said 125 degrees at one point before the A/C was turned on! But is was a dry-hot. Brown Dog (my dog, of course) didn't like it because it was too hot on her feet.
We camped out in the western part of New Mexico in the mountains, the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Bear Lake, UT and Yellow Stone.
Some thoughts:
What's with the price of tomatoes? Here in North Virginia, they're $2.99 a pound for the "on the vine" variety, but somewhere in Wyoming, they were 89 cents!
Gas was pretty cheap in the central area of the country.
Yellowstone ain't like it used to be back in the 60's (the last time I was there). We saw 1 wolf, 3 rabbits, 2 bison, 8 elk and 0 bears. They don't allow lead weights if you are fishing because of the envirornmental impact.
You don't see as many Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers out west as you do here in North Virginia.
It was refreshing to get outside of the North Virginia area and be with the kind of people that aren't afraid to say "Hi", who drive courteously and are just overall much nicer.
