It's also a good idea when running nitrous, too- at least over 150 HP or so.

Naw, I'm jest junkin' w/ya. Seriously, if you're using a safely rich tune, you can run nitrous w/o a forged crank and pistons. The tune is very critical, though- you MUST avoid detonation at all cost!

Under 150 HP or so in a fresh SBC (good leakdown numbers, no blow-by or issues w/ring seal or valve guide wear diluting the F/A mixture w/oil), you should be OK. But just remember w/nitrous injection you are playing- literally- with fire!

well actually i was thinking for my BB. its just got the KB hyper pistons, and im pretty sure it dosent have any of the above mentioned problems, i only have drove it from my house to end of my dirt road ( not reg yet ) ( new motor ) its close to 10 .1 on its comp. i have heard that term before, playing with fire ( nitro) but im just not sure if 450-500 HP is going to be enough lol.

That power will feel good, for sure. Nitrous is at least an option for later on- if you wanted it. But that much CR and cast pistons will require a close eye on the tune. If it were me, I'd try to be content w/the engine as-is. One glitch of a fuel solenoid and *BANG*!
