no horn and never had one.

ive never used a horn in the few years ive been driven aside to mess with ppl and friends. my 70 elky does not have one and never has since i bought it. im trying to clean up an electrical problem and i believe i have it figured out but what i would like to know is do i need the horn relay since i dont have a horn??? i dont want one i dont know any good use for a horn (did i mention ive never used one ).

anyway i know i need the terminals because thats the main distribution for the power to the car, but could i just install a junction box??? i have a pink with black line wire and a black wire coming from the bottom of the relay what are they??? they are going to the fire wall. are those my horn wires???

In Ny, you can't pass your vehicle inspection w/o a working horn regardless of vehicle year, unless it did not have 1 when built.. I know California is tightening the inspections to '66 and newer which will mean you might need a horn in the near future, just to pass the inspections.

I don't have a GM schematic for your car. '53 is the newest GM schematic I have.. but horns are switched on ground.. to answer your question about needing the horn relay, unless the headlights come on when the horn is blown, the relay could be bypassed for a junction but... IMO, it's much easier just to put the horn back and wire it to schematic, regardless of the fact, you may never use it.

Typical dumb kid thinks he's going to live forever and never kill anyone driving his car.

Horns are for alerting other drivers or pedestrians that they are being idoits and are putting their lives and yours at risk.

I've used my horn several times to AVERT an accident or warn someone of their impending doom if they don't move.

I'll probably be seeing you in the "Darwin Awards" since you seem to have "no need to ever use a horn" - good luck....

Horny

In the third world especially India , the horn is the most important part of the vehicle. Used for signalling when you wish to overtake on that single lane mountain road.
