Try adjustimg your lifters this way and i'm sure you will like it.Bring #1 to tdc.comp stroke.Loosen pushrods and adjust ex#1 3 4 8 in#1 2 5 7 rotate pushrod until tension is just felt on hyd.and then set to specs.on solids set with feeler gauge.Rotate 360 and set ex#2 5 6 7 in# 3 4 6 8 .No hot oily mess and it works on big and small blocks with adjustable valves.

That is a good way to adj valves on a Chevy as long as you're absolutely sure that the cam is straight up, but if the cam is set advanced or retarted, this method may not be accurate. The following method will assure accurate adjustment regardless of cam timing and it applies to any V8, hydraulic or mechanical (Chevy-Ford-Mopar): To adjust Intake, rotate in normal direction until Exhaust starts to open, adjust Intake. To adjust Exhaust, rotate in normal direction until Intake is almost closed, adjust Exhaust. This method assures that the lifter is always on the base circle regardless of of cam timing......Hope this helps....
