No Power To Brakes
I bought a '49 Willys Street Rod that has a '75 Mustang II manual front end (Discs brakes) & a '78 Chevy Nova 10 bolt rear (Drum brakes). When the brake was applied it would throw you through the windshield. To correct this problem, I have just replaced the 11 inch brake booster and 1-1/16 inch master cylinder that had an adjustable proportioning valve, (which did not seem to work).
I installed a new chrome corvette style master cylinder and 7 inch booster with a GM preset proportioning (combination) valve, (the booster was also in the way of the valve covers). The proportioning valve was stuck, but I resolved that problem with the help of some of you guys. Now, I can not stop the car unless I really stand on the brake. It is worse than having manual brakes. Can anyone help with this new problem? Thanks |
Without having the car in front of me it's a little hard to be precise on a diagnoses.. Hard pedal, no brakes could be a vacuum problem to the booster. That's the first thing that popped into my head.

Thanks Ray,
I am thinking the same thing. Will borrow a vacuum gauge and see if there is a leak or something. |
Good luck with that...it usually is a vacuum problem and not too difficult ot expensive a fix.
