Post no spark

i had a 350 put in my monte last summer, ran it at the strip two weekends and started it a few times during the winter with no problems, when i tried to start it to get it out of storage there was no spark at all, the stud connection on the altenator (w/one wire) is loose, keeps spinning when trying to tighten it. could that mean a broken wire inside and if so could that be the reason for no spark?
