noisey timing gear drive needs grinding

i just bought a dual idler noisey timing gear drive for my 327. i installed the cam, thrust bearing, cam and crank gears, and the cam "button". but i have to grind the cam button to clear the timing cover a lil and i have to grind the power idler axle on the block side. does anyone have any tips for me not to grind to much off.

the cover would solve the cam button but there needs to be .005 to .075 clearance from the axle to the block to keep it from binding

timing cover

a 2pc cover should do the trick... and if it turns out u don't like the gears, u don't need to drop the oil pan to change them the next time.... well worth the $40 bucks... bill
