non-lock 3000 stall for 700r4

I was reading previous posts...I need more input.

I have a Comp Extreme cam 230/234 .490 and a 2400 b&M, 1986 700R4. I want more of a punch when I hit the pedal. Right now it don`t cut it.

I have access to a cheap converter 3000 non-lock. This car is mainly short distance driving, mostly sundays and fridays at the track.

OR

I was going to switch to a smaller duration cam (214/224 ) with my 2400 stall speed. This will be cheaper but I will lose top end.

Any opinions?

Will the "non lock" fit your trans. The input shaft and internals are different between the lockup and non.

converter question

the converter you are looking to get came from a 700 that had been set up for a clutch less converter? you need some mod's in pump to run this set up......
