Noooo!!!! my uncle ruined my epoxy spraying!!!

I know this isn't the proper place but I am so upset that I need to vent.

I had just finished spraying epoxy primer on my fire bird radiator support. I spent 2 hours painstakingly prepping the part wiping all the crevices and such till my rag wasn't picking up any more dirt. I then sprayed 2 coats of epoxy primer. It looked good, especially for a job done in my driveway. :)

I went into the garage to pour some mineral spirits into my spray gun cup and i go outside to spray the solvents through the gun. I then see my jerky, uncle standing there with gray hands. I quickly run over to the rad support and see huge full on hand prints in my epoxy

I was so pissed I just stood there frozen. My uncle walked away as quickly as he appeared leaving me with this horror(He lives a block away from me). As soon as what happened sunk in my frozen stare soon turned to anger and rage.

Ahh, dont sweat it, it happens all the time (at least its not a prefect coat of fresh paint) just sand it out with some 180 and shoot it again.Dont forget the W&G remover....

dude it's just a freaking radiator support and an easy fix. Sand as deadbodyman said and shoot again. Minor situation, totally no need to blow a femoral.

Oh yeah, that uncle will probably bring over a six pac because he felt so bad,two beers and you'll BOTH be laughing about it..A couple of beers is great but a couple of FREE beers just tastes so much better. And if he dont get a six it's all good too because he'll stop coming around. A small price to pay...
Its a win ,win in my book...be thankful...

Yea, you guys are right. I need to relax. It was just such a stupid thing that it aggravated me. I went back out, sanded the hand prints out and re sprayed this morning.

We will see about that. This guy was never diagnosed but he is in his 70's and honestly I think he has dementia or something. He probably will show up in a few weeks not knowing what he did. Only this time I will have to make darn sure he don't come near anything.

Lets sum it up like this. He thought my 1978 trans am was a Toyota Camry. :/

He was probably just going to bring it in the garage for you so it wouldnt get dust and bugs in the primer...

Like the others said, it could be alot worse. Maybe you need to make up some "caution wet paint" signs, or you could tape it off like a crime scene.

It will get better

Mineral spirits will clean that primer?

Anyway, give the ol' boy a break. He prolly feels as bad as you were pissed. And the hell of it is, before you will know it- YOU will be the "old guy" doing dumb stuff!

maybe he was basing it on performance

Also, maybe see someone on those anger issues. You're going to end up killing a guy for looking at your car three times instead of only the allotted two.

this is so true, even for us amateurs. I'll be out in the shop like 'DERP DERR I wonder if this is dry yet!?' And put a nice finger print in it.
