Norwalk Night Under Fire

The best fireworks show yet. Took the family to Norwalk Raceway for an evening of Nitro and Rubber.
It was great! Wheel Standers, Jet Dragsters, Nitro Burning Funny Cars...met some well known folks like Don Garlits, John Force, Ashley Force, Bob Motz, Arnie Beswick, along with quite a few others.
My wife has never been to drag races before...now she is hooked!
There are a few pics in my photo album also.
Later,
WEIMER

When is it?
She made the decision that we were going to sit in Club Norwalk next year. She and the kids were so into the racing. I may even have heard a mention of building a drag car. LOL!
The fireworks display was awesome and the kicker was when Bob Motz torched the sign with the Jet Semi.
Robert Hite, who is on Team Force, broke the Norwalk track record last night. The previous was 4.84, and Hite ran a 4.75 @ 327.4mph!!!!! That is moving!
There was so much to see and do there, the kids had fun, the wife had more fun and I loved the smell of Nitro and burning rubber, that I can't wait until next year.
What a great way to start out on my vacation...then I will end it with Goodguys next weekend and a Clippers game next weekend also.
Life is good...until I have to go back to work LOL!
Later,
WEIMER

It is over the Labor Day weekend. They race just about all week. My Dad takes the RV up on Monday and stays all week,so we have a good parking spot, plus we get electric and water hookups that way. Me,my wife and son leave on Saturday morning at around 5:00AM with the "Indy Caravan" My brother and two other guys follow me up.We stay for Saturday and Sunday, they race late into the night both nights.Finals are on Labor Day,but we watch that on TV here at the house when we get back. The dates are August 31 thru Sept. 5th this year.We will be ordering our tickets soon, always get killer seats. If you get them in advance, get them in the bleachers on the left side of the track.General Admission seats are not to comfortable, plus on the Left side the return road is right in front of us so we see them coming back up to get to the pits.Indy is one of a few with the return lane that is not down at the end of the track. It is an added bonus. It is a good time, worth checking out. They have the Bud Shootout on Saturday, plus the K&N Bike Klash on Saturday.Last year was my wifes first NHRA event and she loved it too.

I saw the Winged Express in March, he put an exhibition pass by himself, took up both lanes and took out the lights in the second pass. One wild handful of a car! Every way but straight. Dan

If I remember right,ol' Willy Borscht used to drive that thing one handed, hanging on to the side of the car with his left hand.
Anyone got any pics from way back?
