Cool NOS fender prep ?

I was lucky enough to come across a set of NOS GM fenders for my 69 Chevelle at a great price. I am really in the first stages of my restoration, and my question is a two parter.
1. Do I need to prep the inside of these originally primed fenders before they go on ?
The car probably won't go to the body shop until next year and will have rear quarters put on then with paint. I would like to save a few bucks and have the fenders on before it goes in.
2. Should I leave them in the boxes and let the body guy hang prep and paint them at at once?

I still have to swap the motor and trans out, and do some light interior work on the car.
