nova motor mount interchange

I was wondering if 1973 74 etc motor mounts (frame and block halves) will fit into a 1972 nova? I heard these are better as they are "clam shell" and interlocking so if one breaks...well you can still get home.

Basically I just took a 250 out of 1972 nova, have 1975 350, and I need block and frame mounts as the 1975 mounts do not line up with existing holes

Also when did HEI distributers come into service?

Thanks

With the later-type clamshell mounts, the parts stores actually sell the rubber-and-metal bottom parts, and the steel engine brackets are the hard-to-find parts. Lots of them can use the same ones, but I don't know about the '73-'74 Novas. Up until recently GM sold engine brackets for '75-'79 Novas that were also listed for late-'70s Impalas, but those Novas used a totally different subframe from yours.

Might post over at www.stevesnovasite.com/forums and see if anybody over there knows what you need. They refer to '68-'74 Novas as "third-generation", in case you run into any confusion.

The HEI became standard equipment in 1975.
