Nova Rear End - Wide Tires
63 Chevy II SS-
I am trying to run as large tires as I can without cutting up the rear of the car. I am going to drop a narrowed Ford 9" in the car to gain some extra tire width.
The front of the leaf springs are outboard from the subframe by about 2", as are the fenderwells. The rear of the leaf springs are centered below the subframe. The only kits that I have found are to move the rear of the springs inward by about 4", but I don't see how this can help. The front of the springs needs to be moved about 2" inward and then I could get maybe 12" tires to fit between the fenders and subframe/springs. To do this, I would also need to widen the fenderwells by about 2", but I don't mind doing this, I just don't want to tear up the whole rear of the car.
Anyone have any experience on any of this work? Anything will be helpful... Thanks,
just wondering if you found out any info on how wide a tire you can on a 63 chevy 2. I have run across the same problem.
I can post a link to a tire calculator if your interested?
You plug in the numbers you know and it will help you determine wheels/tires you can run.
This was set up for '55/6/7 Chevies, but as long as you know the width of the frame rails, the leaf springs, and how far apart your quarter panelsare you should be able to use this?
