nova subframe on a 59 chevy truck

i am in the process of restoring a 59 chevy 1-ton pickup and i have some questions about an IFS swap.

i have a 77 nova for a donor car that i wanted to use the front subframe on the truck. the framerails and track width are the same as the truck. i don't plan to keep the 1-ton payload, but i would like to be able to tow a 5000 lb. boat trailer with it. my concern is that the front suspension may not be strong enough for the added weight of a long bed truck. i plan to upgrade the brakes and rebuilt the suspension.

is the nova front suspension strong enough to hold up a long bed truck? would it be unsafe to tow with it?

I put a Nova subframe under my 51 Ford, and towed my 3800 lb house trailer all over the country.......I don't see where you would have a problem..

did you change the springs?

i want stiffer springs, but don't want to lower the truck any more than the subframe will at its stock height.
