I have a 74 nova with the turbo hydramatic transmission. How much power/torque will it handle? thanks

a stocker 350 turbo with a lot of miles??? maybe 250-275 hp, put a shift kit in it and it will last a lot longer.

It has 82k miles on the turbo hydramatic.(and the rest of the car)
I want a 4 speed in it that would handle over 300hp, How much would this run me? thanks

depends on how handy you are if you have to buy all the parts individually lots of bucks rebuilt muncie or borg trans-$450-800.00 shift linkage $125+up scattershield (you will need one) flywheel- clutch disc and press plate and throwout bearing and arm cross shaft and ball pivot, linkage arms and a factory pedal assembly.
add up all that and a rebuilt 350 turbo with a street strip convertor looks mighty tempting, easier on parts, more consistant, probably faster. been there
