I have always had good luck with most all New Process components, however I have no personal experiance with the NP420, but I do know that Some Dodge Military truck (M37) refered to this trans as a "Model 88950" Otherwise anything that starts with NP stands for "New Process"

If it was me, and the tranny doesn't cost that much, I would go for it. After all if the Military used them for their trucks, I would think they would be strong enough.
