number of coats

I know most brands say 2 to 3 coats of clear, can you put more than 3? Also, if you put say 3 coats in one day and sand the next day and spray 2 more coats do all the coats still have a chemical bond? The reason I ask, some finishes that don't burn into the previous coats can show what I use to call witness lines where the top coat is buffed through to the next layer. Kinda like when you try to blend new and old clear, that line you see.

3 seems to be the magic number when it comes to number of clear coats....

Inless you are trying to burry something, like flake or tapelines.

And yes, if you wanted to or needed to, you could lay down 3 coats one day, and later come back sand/scuff, and laydown another coat or 2.

You realy gata watch out on how thick you'r clear ends up though.......too much clear could leed to cracking, in the neer future.

Don't bee fooled by guys who brag about having 10+ coats of clear on there ride, most of the time it's BS
