Nursing Home Escapee?

I've been saying, off the board, that I hope my green Caprice gets stolen or totaled so I can collect the $5000 policy I have on it. So I could use the money for a newer car. Anyway, I almost got my wish this morning. I was going about 50mph when a green Lincoln pulled up to the exit of a parking lot, the driver stopped, and then slowly pulled out across my lane, making a left. She pulled out right infront of me. My screeching tires didn't compel the old lady to speed up any either. It's a freaking miracle I didn't hit her. She did look my direction, though not at me, while I was putting flat spots on my tires. She had to be 80 years old, and had a blank glazed over stare. Yea, we don't need senior citizens drivers tests. I should have just blasted her Lincoln so I could collect the insurance on my car.

you probably wouldn't have gotten crap. If you're exceeding the speed limit (comon, you know you were) you forfeit your right-of-way (at least in michigan). In other words, you'd be scrood.

I got a good chuckle out of your story man, that was good.

Speed limit was 45. I doubt they could figure out if it was 45 or 50.

And hey if you see my car parked anywhere I probably left the key in the ignition, but you'll have to break the window to get in. (I can't be that obvious.)

no I don't remember that story.

maybe collective wishing will help. come on, everyone wish with me. "I hope the car gets stolen or totaled." "I hope the car gets stolen or totaled."

I believe one of the wishes is that "he wont have to work again" and then his son gets mangled in a machine, and he doesnt have to work, then he wishes for his dead son to come back to life, and he does a'la Zombie style....
quite simply, "dont wish for something..you might get it!"

Sorry, but I gotta agree with Ghetto in that most seniors do NOT need to be on the road. I know the day will come when I will be a senior, and I'll probably cry like a baby when they tell me I shouldn't be driving.

Until then, get them off the road and out of my way. Please.

It would be very easy to determine your speed, they measure tire marks and the amount of impact damage done to the cars. They have this down pretty good and would be able to tell you were speeding. It would also have to be determined who was at fault, sometime a person might think he is right but the laws look at it a different way.

Well I don't know about "most" but there are definately some that are making it unsafe for the rest of us. We seriously should have driving tests to determine who is safe and who is not.

Having lived a long time in FL (with lost visiting old drivers)
I agree they need tests to renew their license.

But on the other hand my grandparents lived in Fl so I kinda was the guardian because his kids were in other states.
I had his license revoked and gotta tell you I would not wish anyone to see or go through that.
It was worse on me than him and I knew I was doing the right thing.

My kid has the right idea, he keeps telling me I can keep my license but he's going to put me in a nursing home.
Bad thing is hes not talking about down the road!

So you leave your keys in the ignition, but lock your car. Gotta hitch a ride?

Tire Mark Distance?
Not as hard as you think it is to determine speed...
