NV3500 5speed & 355 SBC in s10

I have the New Venture 3500 5 speed behind my 355 engine in a 92 S10.
The engine is basically a stock rebuild (300HP).
The truck doesn't have posi (3.54 axle).

This is the transmission that was in the truck before the swap & it worked flawlessly behind the 4.3 V6.

Will it live behind the 5.7 V8?

I have been using it but am kind of sqeemish about stabbin' loud pedal too much. (That's ok too, I'm still breakin' in the motor.)

Any of you out there with a similar setup?

That trans is rated for 300-340 ft lbs of torque and is used in several light trucks..just try it and if it blows on you buy a richmond or other heavier duty trans to replace it..

I read in one manual that had exploded view that they rated them @ 285 lb/ft tq. Your estimate sounds more accurate but what do I know? I'm definateld not a transmission engineer, I can barely put one of these "puzzles" back together again when I take the main case off.
I have 4 other of the same transmission in the waiting if the V8 should render it useless.
I'll try & keep my foot out of it, but I wont promise...
