octane ratings
what the highest compression you can run on the different grades of pump gas(regular mid and premium)?

on reg grade i would run around 8.5/9.0 to 1
on med i would run 9.5/ 10.0 to 1 and on premium 10.5/11.0 to 1. but if i am running avgas (aviation fuel)with an octain rating of 115 i run up to 15.0 to 1.

10:1 is the best you're going to get on premium pump gas. Also' I would stick to one store and one even the same pump if at all possible, Octane rating can indeed flucuate dependeing on how well the fuel is refined. If you run into problem this also eliminates one more possibility.

4 years ago my ragin chevelle (flat tops) ran okay on regular, now my stock 326 2bbl blows chunks on AM/PM gas. Stay away from am/pm!!! also in california you are now lucky enough to have 91 octane primo! not 92, 91 ha ha. (uhm, are we next?)

i think it is odd that these places that have been around for as long as i can remember and used to have two options. 87 and 87. Now, without putting in new tanks, they are spitting out 87 89 90 92 and 93 octane. 4 more octanes without a new tank, i don't go to these places...
