Odd ball 75 Firebird Formula

If there's any Pontiac experts out there,I could use some help on this one. I recently purchased a 1975 Firebird Formula. When doing the usual vin decode
I ran into something that can't be explain. The vin is 2U87E5Nxxxxxx. Here's where things got weird, the letter "E" for engine code. I triple check the car up & down, sideways & any other way I could think of. The letter is definately an "E"!!! I already know where your thinking, but forget it,I stopped the stuff 25 years ago.LOL
Also the engine code under the passenger head is "DN" never seen anything like it. If somebody could help shed some light,it would be greatly appreciated.
Can be contacted at DreamCarLocators@aol.com Thanks Dan

E engine code

I have a 75 Esprit w/ E engine code. It is a 350 4bbl car PHS documented & I have the orig. window sticker, bill of sale etc. all confirming the VIN. None of the books I've read have yet to get this right for the 75 F-bird. As far as the xxxxxx goes I don't know but you've probably got something special there. A pilot car perhaps or? Check out Performance Years Pontiac also & I will see what I can find. Bob
