Odd cylinder bore wear

I measured the bore for wear on my SBC and it averaged from .0025" to .007" over. (Tricky job indeed) I noticed an odd wear pattern near TDC in #2 cyl. It appeared that you could see the ridge as well as a partial ridge or mark about where the top compression ring is located. (I can't feel the second mark though) Im guessing at .007" its in the need of a overbore. How much can you clean up with a light hone? Thanks in advance

use a ridge reamer and a cyliner hone and it should smooth out that .0025" overbore without having to take .010 - .020 off of it.

Depends on what you're calling a hone. If you're talking about some cheap thing that is powered by a drill motor it really doesn't take off very much nor does it correct any taper or out of round. It's possible to take quite a bit out with a hone but it's a moot point your block needs to be bored.
