OE Vortec intake gaskets with aftermarket heads/intake?

Hello Everyone, you guys have been great help during my build & modification of my SBC.

I have been using the felpro 1255 intake manifold gaskets on my Patriot 'Vortec' heads & professional products intake mani. I have developed a coolant leak on the back of the drivers side head where the manifold meets the heads. The availability of the 1255 gasket is a bit rough, I understand they are available through mail order/shipping but I was hoping to find them locally... my local Napa used to have them available over night from their DC but not anymore, and the other parts stores want 3-4 days.

My Question: Has anyone successfully used OE type Vortec plastic & rubber intake manifold gaskets with an aftermarket manifold? Those gaskets are available at any parts house and usually in stock. Granted, only if the ports line up and the gaskets have good coverage without any overlap of ports. The patriot heads do have the holes for the clips on OE type gaskets too.

BTW, in case anyone wanted to see a vid of my build.

Thanks Guys ~Mykk

I used stock GM vortec heads and a edelbrock performer Vortec intake. I used 3 sets of Fel Pro stockers trying to get it to seal up, it didn`t matter how much glue I put on`em it wouldn`t seal. Then I seen on the Edelbrock box "only use edelbrock gaskets" I ordered a set of the Eddy`s and some gasgasinch, no more leaks. Let me add in a Edit, i did have a issue before with PP intakes, the coolant port was not wide enough and no gasket worked around the coolant ports. the gasket would overhang by about 1/4 inch since the surface area wasn`t wide enough. The intake got thrown in the trash and replaced by a Edelbrock.

I had wondered if it weren't something like what you described

A caution on some composite style gaskets.
Read the instructions carefully. Many manufacturers caution the use of sealers or lubricants for assembly. The instructions indicate "Do not apply lubricant or sealant to this gasket. Failure to install gasket dry will result in leakage and/or gasket failure".
Though you would like to know.
