Hi all,

If any of you read my previous thread about the Offy 6x2 setup, I found out today that the carbs are actually Ford 8BA carbs with stromberg adapter plates. The guy still only wants $600 for the whole setup, I'm not really sure what the carbs are worth, but I assume not as much as stromberg 97's or 94's.

Is this still a good deal? Should I try to sell or swap the Ford carbs for 97's or stick with them? Has anyone run six Ford 8BA carbs on a small block Chevy? The whole setup came from a 327 out of a drag car originally built in '59.



The seller has since removed the intake and carbs for me, I'm still waiting for some closer pics.

Any input would be great.

Ok, I did a bit of reasearch and found out the carbs Ford used on the 8BA flathead ('49 - '51) are actually Holley 94's. Don't know if that helps anyone answer my questions.

Neat car, very similar to the one i had in 58, no spokes and not a great paint job. I have a similar set up with 97's. kind of pricey for 94's. intake should be worth 250.

Should I offer him less? What do you think is a fair price?

The rebuild kits will cost me $36.95 each ($221.70 total) and Vintagespeed has complete rebuilt 94's going for $175 each.

Should I offer him $500?

only offer him what you are willing to pay. I just noticed where you are and that might be a pretty good price.If it is as clean as the rest of the car, the carbs might not need rebuilding. would be a head ache to run on the street. block off the end carbs and run the two middle carbs. just a thought to make it streetable. jim

What is the difference between running a 6x2 with Strombergs and a 6x2 with Holleys as far as streetability is concerned? Surely both will have similar characteristics?

I've been looking on ebay and found a couple 3x2 Holley 94 setups go for over $700, so maybe it's not such a bad price. I'm willing to pay $500 - $600 plus rebuild kits if needed.

Rich, its not the diff in carbs, there is syncronization? of the carbs. you can take the idle circuits out of the 4 end carbs and use the middle carbs for idle and low speed and have the progressive linkage for the other 4. comparing the 3x2 set up to the 6x2 set up is lile comparing apples and oranges. the 3x2 is streetable and very popular. If you want the look go for the 6x2, reliability and power, single 4bbl. about price, if thats what you are comfortable with ,jump on the band wagon.
