Oil Breather Grommets

My valve covers have 1 1/4" openings. The store sells grommets which allow 1" diameter oil breathers to be used. The store only has non-baffled grommets. My question is what is a baffled grommet and why buy one vs non-baffled?

Baffled grommets have a small flap covering about half the hole and the non baffled are opened all the way. I alway's have used the non baffled myself. I guess the baffled type is designed to help with restricting the oil from flying up so much in the breather it self. JMO
