Oil Cooler And Oil Circulation Problems.

My original oil cooler setup was installed in 2004 when I swapped in a new 350 shortblock.
Over time the rubber hoses began to degrade and my new Hedman Hedders put an end to them totally, burning through the return line.
Totally my fault for not clocking the oil cooler adapter at the filter away from them.
So I upgraded to braided hose, thread here.

I bought a new oil cooler adapter at the filter with 1/2npt ports and a new cooler also 1/2npt ports a tad bigger than the original, as per B/M instructions oil goes into the lower port first.
The setup is simple, a no brainer.
Instead of posting all the pics again hereīs my schematic.

Pressure is applied equally to the ports of the thermostat until the oil reaches 170š when it starts to open, by 180š itīs fully operational and oil flows to the cooler.
On my original setup it worked like a charm, oil was as measured at the return port on the adapter always between 180š/190š.

Now when I drive the car the temp at the return port reaches 215š and if I stop and touch the cooler and hoses to and from it they are cold, not even slightly warm.

So the question is, not that the oil is overhot which it isīnt BUT how is oil getting around my engine without going through the cooler ?
The oil comes out of the motor into the adapter and is routed to the thermostat, then it should come back into the filter and ultimately the engine.
During the installation of oil/trans coolers the thermostats got swapped but they both work, Iīve tested them.
Even used another brand new thermostat to give it another test.

I can drive the car, oil pressure is a nice 50, oil gets around the motor if it didīnt Iīd have had a toasted motor long ago.

So thatīs the deal, any ideas ?
