Oil leak between oil filter adaptor plate and block
I have a 1965 plymouth belvedere II, 273 engine with a 727 auto transmission. There is an adapter plate between the engine block and the oil filter. There is a leak between the adapter plate and the engine block. I am using mobile 1 synthetic oil with k + n oil filter. I have repaired this 4 times, the repair last about 30 days and then it starts leaking again.
The procedure I used was to take the plate off, check for warpage, completely clean the engine block and plate, coat both sides of the gasket with sealer, reinstall the plate with new gasket, reinstall the threaded pipe nipple in the center of the plate, let it set up over night, installed new oil filter.
Here is what I have done.
1. New gasket between the plate and block no sealer. (This is the way it came from the factory)
2. New gasket with permatex #2.
3. New gasket with the right stuff sealant.
4. New extra thick gasket with the right stuff sealant.
Any ideas appreciated.
Have you tried putting a little lock tite on the bolts that hold it on. I am wondering if they are backing out a bit after time. It doesnt make sense that if the surfaces were uneven that it would take 30 days to leak and it sounds like you have done all the normal stuff as far as sealants.

Oil filter adapter plate leak
In my experience with the adapter plates some will warp just a little. Not enough to be seen by the naked eye but they do warp. I suggest you try a reputable gel type gasket material behind it where it meets with a gasket. Talk to the Parts House counter person and ask what product they recommend you try using.
