oil leaks
ok about 2 mounths ago i put a new intake gasket set on my 351 clevo in the instructions it said put no sealent on those snakey little rubbers on the end and none between the tin valley cover and the intake.

i noticed the other day that oil is sitting in that little well where the oil sender unit is but i can not feel any oil running out the back of the intake. cold it be that it is leaking around the sender unit??

Try wrapping plumbers tape around it. Use that thin thread sealant.

Ford sending units are notorious for leaking. One day dry, next day puking all over the driveway. Clean off the top of the sender where the metal is crimped on the center plastic piece. Start it up and look for oil seaping out of the crimp.

Good point. It could be at the electrical connection. If so I would get one of those Auto Guage 3 guage sets. It is a lot nicer to be able to actually see what you oil pressure is as opposed to an idiot light that comes on when it is too late if at all.

ill do that because i dont realy what to have to buy a new gasket kit

I don't know if they have them yet for Clevelands, but if you do need to get another gasket set there is one called an Ultra Seal II. They are made by Mr. Gasket and they are re-usable. I have re-used them on my Chevy 3 times and they keep sealing.

no it doesn't have a light it has got a factory gauge

the one i got is from felpro

Take it apart and toss the end seals and replace them with a healthy bead of RTV, the Felpro gaskets have a non-stick surface so they should be reusable. Fords are notorious for a leak in that area, most times it's the intake end seals that are the problem. Change the sender while your in there, they are cheap and it would be the best time to change it.

Like the jaw I through all the rubber seals away and use a good RTV.on everything, On the mating surfaces I use a punch about every 1/4 inch to give the RTV something to bite. HTH
