Oil pan gasket

I just bought a Fel-Pro 1 piece oil pan gasket and it says not to use any gasket sealer. Any thoughts on this? I'm really trying hard to not have any leaks with this build. 305ci with 2 piece rear main seal. Would you trust this gasket just like it is or put some sealer on it? Anyone have experience with this kind of gasket?

Mike

I put a little dab (and I do mean little) at the corners at the points that the gasket goes down from the flats of the side rails like this

I guess it's in about the same place, but I always put a dab in the corner where the main bearing cap meets the side rail.

I agree with steve, many people think that all that rtv will seal up any leaks. the important part is to make sure the block is clean of any old gasket material and to not over tighten the pan bolts. squezzing the gasket to much can just cause it to sqwish out of the pan and cause a leak.

Well great, I'll just put a dab in the corners then. This gasket is pretty cool in that it has metal inserts at each bolt hole so that you cant squish it too much. Thanks guys.
