oil pickup tube

ok my car was running fine then just started running rough so I looking at oil pressure gauge an its going all over the place got home adjusted distributor everything started back fine...go for another ride starts rough idle again and no oil pressure at all..oil pump about a year old

You're thread title may be your answer. Did you braze or pin the pickup tube to the pump?

Bad gauge or bad sender/loose wire if electrical or all three.

Sounds more like an engine ground (loose wire)if the engine started running poorly and the gauge went screwy at the same time.

nothing is coming through to the gauge confirmed that by unhookin it an cranking over the motor

Un hooked it where? at the gauge? unhook it at the motor, maybe your line is plugged, or kinked. If still no oil pressure, and you have oil in the pan, time to pull the pan and take a look. Possible relief valve stuck in the pump or pickup fell off, or if you have a newer style M55, the pump might be laying in the pan

I'll more than likely drop the oil pan because the line is fine wit no kinks

OK i just wanted to update everyone..didn't have to drop oil pan i discovered distributor had came loose..put it back in place and tightened and everything is fine
