oil pressure help!

I have almost no oil pressure registering on my 1990 S10 2.8L when I let it idle, and when its on the highway I only have about 30 pounds. I just rebuilt this engine and put it back in the truck, all the bearings were checked and such. It also has about 50 pounds at idle when its cold, but it fall soff fast as soon as it warms up.

Along with that I now have a cooling problem. It just started overheating- though I just put it on the highway too. Its a near stock rebuild except it has a slightly larger cam, ported heads, and long tube headers.

The more I think about it the more I think there's probably too much ignition timing, but we set it according to the Chilton manual at 12* with the dummy wire unplugged and I'm currently running it on premium instead of the regular that is normally required.

You should have about 10 Lb.s at hot/idle and as a "rule of thumb" 10 Lb.s per 1000 RPM beyond that. So 30 Lb.s going down the road does sound too bad. I've got an old Chevy truck with a 235 in it and 30 Lb.s is what it has and the truck has lasted alot of years.
NOW if this were a high volume oil pump, I'd be worried, but if this is a stocker I don't think you have too worry. My $0.02 ...Good Luck!

I knew about that rule of thumb, I just worry about it since that rule is kind of old... I may just swap in a high volume pump so my gauge makes me happy- it may be silly but better safe than sorry.

I figured out the cooling thing too- I did a 3" body lift and the fan shroud and the fan were kind of fighting it out when the shrough grabbed the fan in a headlock and wouldn't let go. I "clearanced" it with a rotozip.
