I got my 454 short block back together after the rebuild. All oil gallery's were cleaned and all oil plugs were removed and replaced. Oil pan is on and full of oil. I started priming the oil pump with a electric drill and watched for oil to come out of the lifter bores. I got oil on the one side of the block (cylinders 1,3,5,7). But the other side of the block there is no oil coming from any of the lifter bores.

Question: Where does the oil for cylinders 2,4,6,8 lifter bores originate from?

I tried with lifters in the bores and with no lifters in the bores and cannot see oil coming out any of the lifter bores on that side of the engine.

Lee, what do you have in the drill for a priming tool? You need to have the correct priming tool OR modified dist. housing or most of the oil will dump back into the block where the dist goes. The oil passage goes around the dist. housing and then on to the lifter bores. Wrong tool, no oil.
