Oil Pump Bolt Big Block Chevy

I am assembling a BBC engine and need an oil pump bolt. My books indicate that it is a 7/16 - 14 bolt 2 inches long. Can I get a grade 5 or better bolt from Home Depot to use or do I need to order one from somewhere? If I use the Home Depot bolt, do I need a flat or a lock washer?

Buy one from ARP or somewhere.
The grade 8 may be strong enough, but it does not have the
correct shoulder on it that a proper oil pump bolt does.

I'd hook up w/a stud and nut from ARP- they're sold by every speed shop out there, cost a pittance and will do the job quite nicely for you. All the h-ware needed is included- along w/instructions.

Nothing particularly wrong w/an ARP or OEM bolt, either- but don't use HD hardware in the engine.
