Oil Pump Pickup Tube

I installed my pickup tube on my std volume oil pump last night (sbc 350). After I installed, I realized it hit the pan, so I twisted it in the pump to fix it. I was careful and did not dent the tube or distort it in any way.

My worry is that after I came in for the evening, I was watching an installation video put out by Melling. The guy in the video says never to twist the tube in the pump once it is installed (This info would have been good 20 minutes earlier....my usual mode of operation!!)

So, have I destroyed my seal between the pump/pickup tube and it will leak now? Can I just pull out pickup tube and install a new tube, or will I have to replace pump and tube?

Thanks all.

Ayuh,... I don't think you've hurt it, but I'd throw a tack weld or 2 on it...

As long as you didn't kink the tube when you twisted it you should be fine. And yes, throw a tack weld on it to keep it from moving or coming loose from engine vibration.

Thanks for the reply guys. That makes me feel better! I plan on welding it in place.
