Oil Ring Tension question

Hi have a question...

It may be stupid..but I really dont know...

When you choose piston ring....

I was looking at Total Seal...and on the oil ring...you have the choice of :

Oil Ring Tension : low
Oil Ring Tension : Standard

What is the difference ??? How I can know what kind of ring to choose for my application ?

Thanks, Stephane

IMHO it would depend on what the purpose of the engine was. If it's just a carburated engine the the standard should be what you need.JMO Now if it has juIce or boost on it then you would go the other direction with the low tension. IIRC the low tension will be a thicker ring where the standard is thinner. thin works fine on a street engine but not so good on a race engine. JMO "STREET ENGINE STANDARD TENSION" "RACE ENGINE LOW TENSION" :D
So if you go with the low tension it will probably use some oil and foul a plug every now and then.
Someone might say different but this is how i see it anyway.

Low tension good for race cars with Drysumps and Evac systems.
