Oil shooting out timing case cover!

Hey guys..... Well, I don't support owning a Toyota, as you all know I post here a lot, and i've got an 85 Monte Carlo with a 1975 Chevy 350 in it.... anyway

My dad's been trying to fix his friend's 1997 Camry with (u guessed it.. a 4cyl!) and..... it's shooting oil out of the timing case cover.. He doesn't think there's any oil behind it, so what might be going on? Any ideas?

On my Toyotas the oil pump is in the front cover and is driven by the crankshaft.
