Woah tiger, take what you hear with a grain of salt, few things are truly personal on this site! I think what you're seeing is the classic "power to weight" struggle. An S10 is a very light vehicle, a great build-up for the track. A nomad is an ironclad tank, and unless properly geared, it's liable to lose to anything!
305's are good, reliable motors. THey have a great, flat torque curve, but the small bore, long stroke, small cube combo is a tough starting point, so few try to use them for performance.
