OK to replace 3/4 heater hose with 5/8 hose

Need some help/advice.

Installing Vintage Air system and I want to reroute my heater hoses. I'm thinking I want a 90* or 45* 1/2 pipe to 3/4 barb adapter at the water pump (327 chevy). Cannot find one however. I can think of 2 alternatives.

1) use 5/8 hose instead of 3/4 at the pump (I have found both 90* and 45* 1/2 X 5/8 adapters)

2) plumb the 3/4 hose to the top fitting on the pump instead of the side fitting (assuming I can find the right adapter)

Why not? Wont hurt a thing - that is as long as you can find or make an adapter 3/4 > 5/8. You wont lose anything measurable except clunky looking 3/4 inch hose

Ayuh,.... If yer pump has 2 ports, you can use either of 'em, as they're both low-pressure return ports...
