Is it ok to sit rebuilt Eng/Tran on tires

I want to bolt my newly rebuild engine and transmission together and install them as one. In the meantime, I was wondering if it is ok, after I bolt them together, to sit them on tires. I have seen engine/trans pulled and sit on tires awaiting rebuild. What about after rebuild while waiting to install.

Thanks
Willy

Best thing to do is use an engine cradle or my favorite a four wheel dolly with the mounts on the engine and blocks of wood under to support and a ratchet tie strap to lock it in place so the whole thing moves as one.

Tires are dangerous the engine roll off and hurt someone badly. If someone comes on your garage and trips over the engine it should not move. Kids should be able to climb on it and have it not fall over for storage. To mount the trans i would put it on the crane even if it was still strapped to the dolly. They never go on the first try always takes a little wiggle... Oil pan is random some of them can hold the entire weight of the engine other will flatten like a beer can with the engines weight.

I use tires all the time, and its a LOT more stable than an engine stand. Be careful to mind the pan as mentioned though.
