The *Sometimes they come back* franchise. Not 100% auto related but is at the same time the first one was decent the rest just kept getting worse with each one. The very original.... fast and furious -1955 or not super old.. the chase.

Two Lane Blacktop, my favorite of these classic car movies, this one is full of great moments

Who would have put James Tailor the song writter behind the wheel of this bad arse 55? with Dennis Wilson from the beach boys as the wrench, go figure

Do you mean "Dual" with Dennis Weaver? If that's the one, not a "car" movie in the sense of hot rods and what not, but a hell of a good movie. Directed by Steven Spielberg in what I believe was his first time. I remember seeing it for the first time when it was brand new in a cabin of a friend up in beautiful "Strawberry" when I was about 13.

Duel (1971) Steven Spielberg Dennis Weaver, Jacqueline Scott and Eddie Firestone FULL MOVIE - YouTube

Brian
Just as a side note, the story that the movie was adapted from was written by Stephen King.

I still like "Two Lane Blacktop", The acting was as you say somewhat suspect but the 55 Chevy was cool.

Another side note, they used a pile of shots from the film on an episode of "The Hulk"!

Man that 57 still looks killer. I dunno cobras have always been fast, if you can get it to hook; but that 57 just had it all to me

DUEL was directed by Spielberg; it was his first as a director. Incidentally the story is, I believe a Steven King story, that was published in PLAYBOY at the time. Also, its a Made for TV movie and I think the run-time is less than an hour and a half. While not a true car movie in a sense; the truck is as much of a villain as 'Christine' (King must really have a love of cars, between the 2 mentioned previously, there was 'From a Buick 8'; which is a riff on a song 'From a Buick 6', which is a musical tale of an HP Lovecraft story.

Im a bit of an S. King ( alias Richard Bachman) nerd (and his son who writes under the name Joe Hill).

Anyone ever notice that most of the bikes in 'The Wild one' with Marlon Brando are Triumphs (Brando's personal Thunderbird 6T was used in the movie)
