Old Regulator Removal

I replaced my alternator with a GM 1 wire ( I know, 3 wire is better ) and I want to remove the old regulator. I am having toruble understanding how i can just remove the regulator and still get power to my accessories. Does the power not go from the regulator to the various systems in the car. I took a wire from the battery and ran it to the battery terminal on the ignition switch but I don't believe that i'm going to have power to the rest of the car. My pos. cable from the battery goes to the starter solenoid and then I've run a wire from the battery to the ignition switch. Am I going to have to run arother wire to the horn relay to supply the rest of the car, if so, what would that relay look like ? Sorry for being so uninformed but I haven't had much experience with this type of thing .. Thanks for the help..
