oldie but newbie:slap file???

hello my name is michael and i am new to the thread.
I have been in autobody business for all my life.
i have been a full time painter for about 15 years
have always done decent plastic work, but latley
i have become obsessed with doing plastic free body
work. one of the guys at the shop i work at is
an "old timer" who fixes everything with no plastic.
when he has a large dent. we all stand around and watch him
like he is doing open heart surgey. its awsome.
no fancy toolbox or OCC hat! just one hammer one dolly
a slap file and vixen file.
he has been nice enough to take some time to teach me
but he makes it look easy. its like i am learning all
over again. very very hard. i have also bought ron covells
basic metal video. i am trying hard but i seem to be getting nowhere
i have a few questions for some of you experts

1. will i ever get it
2. what is the differance between a slap file and a slap hammer
the guy teaching me only uses a slap file. he doesnt speak
good english so he cant explain it to me
3 WILL I EVER GET IT

Thanks in advance.

Keep this in mind when working metal.

Less IS more.

Working sheet metal requires a light touch and most people overwork it due to impatience and wanting it done quickly all the while killing themselves banging away instead of tapping or in most case's,Slapping.
