Olds 403 Help
Hey guys new, member here. I just pulled the 403 out of my 79 Trans Am. Heres my build up so far:

1.SSI 224/234 flat-tappet cam
2.Olds 350 heads w/64cc chambers
3.TH350 tranny
4. 2.07/1.625 valves (heard they will fit)
5. 3.73 gears
6.Holley Avenger 770
7.Edelbrock Performer

How does that sound so far? ANy good piston recomendations??? (flat top) 11-20-2002 07:28 PM

if you put flat top pistons in an olds you will probably have to run it as a diesel, seriously the chambers in the olds are small so you have to run a dish piston.

I have to run dished in Olds 350 heads??? I had no idea. Would the compression just go through the roof if I went flat top???? If I stay dished, I'll just wire wheel and clean the dished pistons I have now....

I don't know the answer but I can say ask at the oldsmobile mailing list. Below are the instructions for subscribing to the list

thansk guys frot he mailing address. I searched all posts with "403." It seems as if a lot of people here know what they are talking about. I just can't understand how chevy can have flat-tops with 64cc chambers. I do realize the head designs may be different though.....So basically, has anyone here run flat tops on their 403(not with 83cc smog head). IF it won't work, I'll get some forged dished...
