olds 425

some body had just gave me a engine and he told me that it is a olds 425 but when i went to make sure on what it was i could not tell because i do not know how to tell if you know any way to find out what size it is for sure please let me know.

I don't know how well Joe or his guys will take to answering your question on the phone, but he is "Mr. Oldsmobile" in the hot rodding world and should be able to easily answer your question.

If you will do a Google search for Oldsmobile casting numbers you will see that there are a lot of sites where you can look your casting number up and see what you have. Just get the casting number off of the engine block.

Very simple. All Olds motors have a block casting number located on the "shelf" above the water pump, next to the oil fill tube. Post that number here and we can tell you what it is.
