Question Olds and Chevy Harmonic Balancers

Does anyone know if the two balancers are the same seeing that they are both 350ci GM small blocks? I cant find anyone with the Olds balancer in stock. They all say it is not available(NAPA too).Any Info would be appreciated!

No, there is a huge difference between the 350 Chev and 350 Olds engines. Balancers will not interchange between the two engines.

So I wonder what gives then? The only balancer I can find is a FluidDamper and it runs $403!! Certainly there has to be somewhere that carries this balancer in its OEM form.

See if you can locate a company called Silver Seal. They are located in one of the Detroit suburbs, can't remember where and I am currently sitting in a motel room so I don't have their address handy. They sell all kinds of stuff for automotive machine shops and have some hard to find things like original equipment oil pans, timing covers, etc. I think I remember seeing harmonic balancers in their line as well. Good luck.

Used to mess around with Oldsmobile's a little and found that many parts between the Olds V-8 family are interchangeable. 330, 350, 403, and 455. Never tried to replace a balancer on one, but you may ask the parts guy for a different engine size balancer if the crank snout is the same size. Just a thought.
