Post Olds rearend

Does anyone know how hard it is to find a posi unit for a 57 olds rearend? I bought one that has new 4:11 gears and bearings but it's not posi.
Thanks DC

I've been looking for ANY backup for my '56 Olds rear end (not as popular as the '57 so should be more abundant) for several decades and have had no luck. Good luck finding one for the popular '57! Probably will need to swallow hard and convert to the boring Ford 9".

'57-8 Olds/Pont rears had 29 spline, '59-64 had 31-spline. The posi wasn't available until '58, so a 29-spline posi is a one year item and very scarce. They didn't sell many, either, plus there are no '58's in junkyards anymore. But, if you have 29-spline, you can convert to 31-spline. Parts are not impossible, but you have to do a lot of looking to land your parts. I had to.

I know Mark Williams 800 525 1963, still offer new Spools and bearing kits for 57-64 rear end you may want to contact them. You will have to run their 35 spline axels tho ....olds49ed
