I have a 59 olds 371 2 barrel & a 57 J2 three two barrel manifold, does anyone know if this is a bolt on swap? I know the compression is a little differnt. What about the cam? Please help!

cam was different also, part of the J-2 package that was offered as a high perf option.

NO! The '57-8 371 intakes CAN be modified to fit the earlier 324's (there is a alight angle difference), but you can not fit them to a '59-64 engine ('59-60 371, '59-64 394). The '59-64 engines were a tall-deck block, and thus, those intakes are at least an inch wider than the '57-8 intakes.

Also, and I'm not going to get into factory cam profiles here, there were 3 different cam blanks for the early rocket engines. '49-55, '56-8 ('56 324 went to the larger journal), and '59-64. Also, if you are looking for speed stuff for these engines, I do have some stuff available...

I have in the past when raceing Oldsmobile powered cars made a set of spacers (just like those used for BBC truck blocks) that would allow use of 57 -58 J2 manifold on later block. Not a very difficult machine job here. Good luck

Forgot about spacers. But then again, I beleie there will then be a slight angle mis-match of the intake port floors. The 394's had a different port angle than the '57-8's. But it would work.
